PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has allocated Rs317.8 billion for Annual Development Program (ADP) in budget 2020-21, including Rs221.9 billion for settled areas and Rs95.9 billion for merged tribal districts, which will focus ongoing development projects.

Of the total budget outlay of Rs923 billion, the development portfolio will around Rs317,857 million, including Rs221,925 million for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Rs46,932,000 million for merged areas and Rs49,000 million for AIP - accelerated implementation program under tribal decade strategy, according to budget for FY 2020-21, presented by Taimur Saleem Khan Jhagra here during special session on Friday, chaired by deputy speaker Mehmood Khan.

The ADP 2020-21 is consisted on 2,467 projects, out of which 1,378 will be completed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 826 in merged areas, while 261 developmental schemes to be initiated in accelerated implementation program (AIP) under the tribal decade strategy (TDS). Rs54,857 million had been allocated for district ADP in the next fiscal year.

Around 726 schemes will be targeted for completion in the next financial year 2020-21, including 220 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 479 in merged areas and 27 under AIP.

A total of 103 uplift schemes would be completed with foreign assistance, including 83 in KP and 20 in the newly merged tribal districts. In the outgoing fiscal year, a total 213 developmental projects had been completed.

The development outlay for the next year also consists of Rs73, 354 million as foreign project assistance along with Rs14, 8571 million local funds.

For the agriculture sector, the government has allocated Rs10, 123 million in the provincial budget 2020-21. For the health sector, a sum of Rs13,770 million has been earmarked in the budget. Rs18,687 million has been estimated for elementary and secondary education in the budget.

For the Auqaf and Hajj, a proportion of Rs372 million has been set aside, while for the board of revenue, Rs507 million has been allocated in the next FY 2020-21. In the budget, for the district ADP, Rs44571 million has been estimated, for DWSS a sum of Rs3,548 million has been allocated in the budget.

For energy and power sector, an amount of Rs8,738 million has been estimated in the budget. A sum of Rs30 million has been allocated for environment, Rs239 million for establishment and administration department has been allocated.

Similarly, a sum of Rs150 million has been set aside for excise and taxation department, Rs3,435 million for finance department, has been estimated. An amount of Rs449 million has been earmarked for food department in the budget.

For forestay department, a proportion of Rs2,500 million has been allocated in the budget. For the higher education, a sum of Rs6, 523 million has been estimated in the budget. For the home department, Rs2,175 million has been earmarked in ADP 2020-21.

Likewise, for the housing department, a sum of Rs200 million has been set aside in the budget. Rs2,944 million has been allocated for industries, a sum of Rs144 million has been set aside for information department. Rs235 million has been allocated for labour department, Rs990 million has been estimated for law and justice department, Rs7,630 million has been earmarked for local government in the budget.

Furthermore, for the mine and mineral sector, a sum of Rs230 million has been allocated in the budget. For the multi sector development plan, Rs21,736 million has been earmarked. A proportion of Rs799 million has been allocated for population welfare department. Rs3,000 million has been set aside for the relief and rehabilitation in the budget. Rs26,480 million has been earmarked for roads in the budget.

A sum of Rs 250 million has been earmarked for social welfare department. An amount of Rs4, 565 million has been allocated for pro-poor initiatives in the budget. A sum of Rs2916 million has been set aside for sports and tourism sector in the budget. For the ST&IT sector, a proportion of Rs239 million has been allocated, for the transport department, a sum of Rs1826 million has been earmarked, for the urban development Rs4507 million has been allocated, for the drinking water and sanitation department, a proportion of Rs3,558 million has been earmarked in the budget.
