KARACHI: Model Customs Collectorate (MCC), Jinnah International Airport, (JIAP) Karachi on Wednesday claimed to have surpassed its annual budgetary revenue target of 'Customs Duty' during the financial year 2019-20 by 23.16 percent as compared to the last financial year.

According to details, the MCC, JIAP has collected Rs. 2658.02 million as custom duty during the month of June, 2020 as against the assigned target of Rs. 1693.02 million, depicting 57% growth.

The collectorate has Rs. 21.175 billion as customs duty during the financial year 2019-20 as compared to the assigned target of Rs. 20.488 billion, showing an increase of 23.16% as compared to the last financial year.

A total collection of duty and taxes stood at Rs. 51.4 billion during financial year 2019-20 as compared to Rs. 44.8 billion collected during last financial year 2018-19.

Despite Covid-19 pandemic, the revenue target was achieved by taking administrative measures such as post release audit, correct valuation, finalization of provisional assessment and automation in assessment of mobile phones.

The Collector Irfan-ur-Rehman Khan congratulated his officers and staff on achieving the target, saying that this was achieved by the hard work of all the team members.
