Retirement is getting closer: Roger Federer

Swiss Tennis star Roger Federer has admitted that his nearing retirement, as he is aiming for one last glory in his illustrious career.

The 38-year-old is dubbed as the greatest player in his history of the game with 20 singles Grand Slam titles to his name, which is most by any player till date.

Currently sitting at number four at the ATP world rankings, the Swiss maestro has suffered multiple knee injuries in the recent past which rumoured about his coming to the end of his career.

Federer, while speaking to Zeit as cited by TennisworldUSA, admitted that his playing days are coming to an end but insisted that his focus is to make the best of the remaining time.

“Retirement is getting closer and I will miss tennis so much,” the 20-time Grand Slam winner said. “It would be easier for me to retire now, but I wanna give myself a chance to keep enjoying my time on court.”

He has already announced that he will not be taking part in any of the competitions in 2020 as he continues to recover from knee injury.

Last time he clinched the Grand Slam was in 2017 when he downed Croatia’s Marin Čilić with the score of 6-2, 6-7, 6-3, 3-6, and 6-1 to lift the Australian Open.
