KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 117,101 tonnes of cargo comprising 56,857 tonnes of import cargo and 60,244 tonnes of export cargo including 2,798 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday.

The total import cargos of 56,857 tonnes comprised of 15,008 tonnes of containerised cargo; 14,392 tonnes of bulk cargo and 27,457 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 60,244 tonnes comprised of 20,557 tonnes of containerised cargo; 160 tonnes of general cargo; 38,005 tonnes of bulk cargo and 1,522 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 2,798 containers comprising of 932 containers of import and 1,866 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 457 of 20's and 216 of 40's loaded while 31 of 20's and 06 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 606 of 20's and 220 of 40's loaded containers while 120 of 20's and 350 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were five ships namely Hyundai Premium, Cosco Aden, Gulf Coast, Winter Sun and Tabernacle Prince carrying containers, oil tankers and cement respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were three vessels carrying containers, oil tanker and clinkers respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 201,300 tonnes comprising of 164,877 tonnes of import cargo and 36,423 tonnes of export cargo including 2,651 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The total import cargo of 164,877 tonnes includes 53,013 tonnes of coal; 41,666 tonnes of LNG; 37,452 tonnes of gas oil; 5,800 tonnes of palm oil; 13,000 tonnes of soyabean and 13,946 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 36,423 tonnes includes 36,423 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 2,651 containers comprising of 734 containers import and 1,917 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

There were three ships namely MSC Chiara, Safmarine Nyassa and Bubyan carrying containers and gas oil respectively sail out to sea on Monday morning, while another ship namely Celsius Miami carrying palm oil is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of six ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, coal, soyabean, LNG, gas oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as thirteen vessels viz. Express Rome, MOL Courage, Agamemnon, Perth-1, Dona Bibi, Kamila Kosan, Tomson Gas, Umm Bab, Hanfia Arctic, Ploutos, Torm Asfrid, Shalamar and Bernara carrying containers, coal, soyabean, chemical, LPG, LNG, gasoline, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were four ships viz. Agamemnon, Umm Bab, Ploutos and Bernara carrying containers, LNG, gasoline and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Monday.

There is one ship namely MSC Usbon carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday.
