LAHORE: The Punjab Restaurants Unity Association (PRUA) has joined hands with the All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajran (APAT) in its countrywide strike under the slogan "Horn Bajao, Hukumat Jagao" starting from July 18.

The collaboration took place at a joint press conference by APAT Central General Secretary Naeem Mir at the Lahore Press Club (LPC) on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, PRUA Chairman Amir Qureshi said that around 35 percent restaurants had been closed due to lockdown while the remaining ones were on the verge of closure.

"We want to open our businesses by strictly following the Punjab government's issued corona SOPs," Qureshi said and warned that if the government did not give them permission, all the restaurants owners along with workers will be on roads and they will "send packing" of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government.

"We have no political motive behind organising this (Horn Bajao, Hukumat Jagao) strike. Almost 40 percent business has been closed due to the lockdown. Small-scale traders, especially daily wage earners, are among those who were affected the most in the lockdown."
