With 243,599 cases reported so far, Pakistan has now more cases than Italy which has 242,363.
Italy has reported 34,926 deaths. It has also banned entry to people coming from 13 countries that it said presented an excessive rate of infections.
According to the government's portal on coronavirus, the number of positive cases in the country jumped to 243,599 after 2,751 cases were reported on Thursday. The country's death toll also crossed the 5000 mark after 75 deaths were reported.
100,900 cases have been reported in Sindh, 85261 in Punjab, 29406 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 11099 in Balochistan.
Similarly, 13829 were reported in Islamabad, 1619 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 1485 in Azad Kashmir.
