In the past 24 hours, the country also reported 842 new cases taking the tally to 283,487. There are now 17,815 active cases in Pakistan.

The novel virus also claimed the lives of 14 more people. Pakistan has so far lost 6,068 people to the virus.

As the number of coronavirus cases and deaths decline in Pakistan, the government has announced to ease restrictions that were imposed in March due to the virus. Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar said restaurants and cafes, outdoor and indoor, will be allowed to open from Monday.

The government also plans to reopen schools from September 15.
