24 hours have passed since the power outage in Quaidabad, Gulshan-e-Bunir, Gulshan-e-Hadid, and Gulshan-e-Maymar, power is off in Gulistan-e-Jauhar Block 19, Gulshan-e-Iqbal 13D, 13C as well.
Since last month, K Electric has started a series of unannounced and unannounced load-shedding under the pretext of furnace oil and gas supply, which has left the citizens helpless amid soaring temperatures.
The minister told the House, that they are providing an additional 100 megawatts of electricity to the KE, which is more than the contract agreement signed with it.
The government will provide more gas to the KE, which will result in generating 200MW of electricity.
Residents of the area say that the duration of load shedding in the area is three hours. They said that their complaint is not being registered at the complaint center.
In a statement, KE spokesperson said that these investments would be utilized to improve generation, transmission & distribution system of the power utility.
The duration of load shedding in the city has increased from 7 to 10 hours due to which the citizens are facing difficulties in the ongoing hot weather.
The power outage in Karachi is rampant, while KE is reluctant to name the areas affected by the power outage and is anxious to discuss future plans.
“Due to technical fault at KANUPP plant, power supply to parts of Karachi may be impacted due to resultant shortfall of 60MW,” informed KE spokesperson.
A spokesperson of the Ministry of Energy said that the federal government is providing 800MW electricity to KE and is ready to provide an additional 500 MW from National Grid.
Talking to media CEO KE Alvi said that the authorities have assured him that KE will be provided furnace oil from some Independent Power Producers (IPP) and the situation will normalize.
As per details, SSGC spokesperson said that the company had not reduced its gas supply for K-Electric, beside the supply has been increased from 50 million cubic feet to 240 million cubic feet.
The regulator said that it has come to its knowledge through media reports that "inflated" electricity bills are being charged to the consumers of K-Electric.
